What do I achieve by recycling metals?

• I save raw materials.
• A quarter of the steel used in the manufacture of cans for food and drinks is recycled.
• Aluminium is 100% recyclable. If we reuse it, we save bauxite (the raw material used in its manufacture).
• I save energy.
• 75% less energy is required in order to produce steel from recycled steel.
• I reduce contamination.
• I avoid the use of uncontrolled landfills.
• I ensure that fewer waste products are sent to controlled landfills.

How are metals recycled?

* From the Garbigune, they are sent to different companies which separate them. Then each metal (iron, lead, aluminium, copper, etc.) are transferred to different plants for casting and subsequent reuse.
