Oils: Household, Crankcase

The oils used in kitchens, if thrown away down the sink, seriously contaminate waters.

The oils used in automobiles are highly harmful to the environment as they contain heavy metals.

Both types of oils are collected at the Garbigune and authorized centres to be later transferred to a recycling centre.

What do I achieve by recycling oils?

I manage to avoid them contaminating.

* Oil spilled on the earth or dumped an irresponsible manner down a drain contaminates the earth and underground water bodies. Also, it may reach a river bed.
* We should not overlook the fact that only one litre of oil can contaminate the water in five Olympic sized swimming pools.
* I facilitate the reuse of these products in industry.
* With the oils coming from the kitchen (vegetable oils), different cleaning and paint products can be produced and likewise nutrient elements.
* With the oils used in the kitchen, a biofuel is generated known as biodiesel. Generating energy from waste coming from the biomass is one of the industries of the future.

How are oils recycled?

Kitchen oil is transferred to a specialized company where solids and water are separated. Later, they are sent to different product manufacturing processes.

Car oil is sent to a Recycling Centre where the solids, heavy metals and water that it contains are separated to be later reused in industry.
