Used car batteries contain lead and acids which, if not treated properly, could be an important source of contamination.

What do I achieve by recycling bar batteries?

• Savings in raw materials. Plastic and lead are recovered.
• Energy savings.
• I protect nature because if certain battery components come into contact with the soil or water these could be very dangerous.

How are batteries recycled?

From the Garbigune they are taken to the recycling plant where they are crushed. Then their components are separated:

• The acids are neutralised as they cannot be reused.
• The plastics are crushed and reutilized.
• The anode and cathode are taken to foundries to recover their lead content.
• New batteries are made and sold.
