Research and Experimental Areas
On a regular basis, experiences and data collecting take place at the Controlled UW Tips, Urban Waste, at Igorre and Jata, and at the IW Tips, Inert Waste, at Bérriz (closed in January 2008. Carrying out environmental recovery work) and La Orkonera, on different aspects affecting their exploitation, useful life and maintenance.
These studies are also conducted at the closed Controlled UW Tips at Amoroto and Gordexola, as a post-closure follow-up must be carried out over a 30 year period.
The results of this research have been published in different technical and scientific journals (“Residuos” and “Waste Management & Research”) and in the minutes of the “7th International Landfill Symposium” held in Sardinia (Italy).
Garbiker actively collaborates with Research groups at the University of the Basque Country by contracting various Projects aimed at the overall improvement of the management of Controlled Tips.
