What are the Garbigunes or Waste Disposal Services?

The waste that is neither collected nor adequately treated end up in the Controlled Tips, without any type of use being made of it. In order to alleviate this problem, the Garbigunes were established.

The Garbigunes or “Clean Point” are a Selective Collection Centre for Household and Similar Waste, strategically located near the communities of users which, FREE OF CHARGE, are available to people so that they may deposit any materials which can be recycled, reused or evaluated.

Nowadays, they are established in a points network that deserves highly positive degrees of environmental evaluation by the people of Bizkaia, witnessing a spectacular rate of use. Undoubtedly, their proximity and accessibility have contributed to this, a management model that has received important public recognition.

Objectives of the Waste Disposal Services

* Make use and give material value to easily recycled waste, thus obtaining energy savings and reduce the volume of waste to be deposited in the controlled tips.
* Minimize uncontrolled dumping of voluminous waste products.
* Contribute to training and making people aware of how to care for the Environment.
* Serve as a centralized point for managing and transferring waste products for a given area, Community and/or District, with the subsequent improvement in efficiency of management within the Historic Territory of Bizkaia.

Garbigunes timetables:

* Mondays to Fridays: morning, from 9:30 to 13:30; afternoon, from 15:30 to 18:30.
* Saturdays: morning, from 10:00 to 14:00.
* Sundays: morning, from 10:00 to 14:00 in Barakaldo, Basauri, Durango, Getxo and Santurtzi.
