Yellow recycling bin

Yellow recycling bin

The yellow recycling bin is for depositing metal, plastic and tetrabrik cartons, cans and bottles.

Packaging materials recycled

The first yellow recycling bin was introduced at 12 p.m. on September 28 1998 in the Parque de la Conchita in Güeñes. By December 31 2007, Garbiker had placed 3,266 recycling bins of 3 and 3.5 m3  litres to serve 113 municipalities, the users of the Garbigunes and several shopping centres.

Envases

Garbiker undertakes the daily collection of packages deposited in containers with a fleet of 11 vehicles, equipped with a crane and top-loading compactor unit. There is also a recycling bin cleaning vehicle.

If we add the total kilometres that GARBIKER's lorries have travelled in their selective pick-up service, we observe that the distance covered, namely 1.589.268 kilometres, is equivalent to going round the world 40 times.

The waste from the packaging containers collected are taken to the separation and classification plant in Amorebieta-Etxano: "Bizkaiko Zabor Berziklategia S.L." "(B.Z.B.)". This company was set up on February 1 1999. An investment of 2.6 million euros was undertaken at the end of 2003, aimed at increasing the plant's capacity and automating its production system.

In the year 2007,  8,448,985 kg of waste was collected.

Since it began its activities and up to December 31 2006, Garbiker has removed a total of 49,341,080 kg from the bottles and cartons recycling bins.
